— Layla Sanaa
— Biography
A vessel for movement.
Layla Sanaa — born in South Bend, Indiana, and raised in Hershey, Pennsylvania, and Chesapeake, Virginia — is a versatile artist, choreographer, and visionary who brings powerful stories to life through movement while building platforms that uplift and inspire others.
Currently based in Los Angeles, Layla serves as Creative Director of Compton Kidz Club, a nonprofit providing performing arts opportunities to youth in under-resourced communities; Compton Modeling Agency, Compton Fashion Week; and Girl World, a dance company dedicated to celebrating diversity, pushing artistic boundaries, and empowering women through movement.
Her professional work includes choreographing for the Los Angeles Lakers' Black History Month celebration, being commissioned by legendary songwriter Diane Warren to create a visual for the Oscar-nominated song "The Journey" by H.E.R., and performing at New York Fashion Week. Her choreography has been featured at Climate Resolve's Coolest LA, Santa Monica College's Symphony Orchestra Concert, Kedren Children's Village in support of mental health advocacy, and most recently, at a fashion show in Botswana, Africa.
Beyond the stage, Layla is deeply committed to mentorship and education — teaching across Inglewood and Compton, and using dance as a vehicle for social change, youth empowerment, and community building.
